Karla N. Muñoz, MD, FAAD

The founder of Vista Dermatology, Karla N. Muñoz, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist. In private practice for the past twelve years, Dr. Muñoz is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, the number one ranked medical school in the United States. During her medical education, she completed a year-long Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellowship in metastatic melanoma.

Dr. Muñoz completed her dermatology residency at Stanford University, a top ranked dermatology program where she also served as Chief Resident during her final year. Her undergraduate degree in molecular, cell and developmental biology is from University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where she graduated with highest honors. She was born and raised in San Diego, California, but has called San Antonio home for several years now.

Prior to opening her own practice, Dr. Muñoz worked in Northwest San Antonio, Alamo Heights, New York City and Northern California. Her professional interests include skin cancer and complex medical dermatology as well as performing various cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Muñoz is honored that numerous multi-generational families have entrusted her with their healthcare needs. She believes every patient should be treated with respect and dignity. She enjoys being a dermatologist and goes to the clinic daily with enthusiasm.

When it comes to cosmetic procedures, Dr. Muñoz’s ultimate goal is to have her patients looking natural and refreshed.

She enjoys all aspects of dermatology including medical, surgical, cosmetic and pediatric. With her clinical experience, as well as her education and training, she takes pride managing complex skin conditions while providing her patients an excellent healthcare experience.

Healthcare is a large part of Dr. Muñoz’s family. Her husband is an interventional cardiologist in San Antonio. They have two energetic boys and love spending time together along with friends.
